The UK has defended its decision to suspend some arms sales to Israel.

On 2 September, it suspended around 30 out of 350 weapons export licences to Israel, saying there is a "clear risk" the equipment could be used to commit serious violations of international law.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the decision "shameful", saying on social media that it "will only embolden Hamas".

But UK Defence Secretary John Healey insisted the UK remained a "staunch ally" of Israel, telling the BBC Israel's security would not be weakened by the decision.

Husam Zomlot, the Palestinians' top envoy to the UK, called the partial ban an “important first step” to the UK’s fulfilment of its “legal obligations under domestic and international law”.

Two recreational vehicles (RVs) parked outside a home in a Vancouver, B.C. neighbourhood "for years" has frustrated neighbour Shar Levine, who says that they're violating city bylaws.

The vehicles appear to be drawing power from a $4.4-million home via extension cords.

“I am very sympathetic to the people who are down on Terminal and Main, but when you have outstandingly expensive RVs jacked into a $4-million house on the Vancouver West Side, I don’t have a lot of sympathy.”

Like any company, nonprofits have salaries and bills to pay, a budget to balance. They require money. Amanda talks about how you can work smarter, not harder to further your social mission (personal or professional) using web-based tools. Framework Foundation's technology strategy is to "share information once, distribute it widely and access it in multiple places". Living those values means using low-cost, scalable web tools that allow the team to work from anywhere and more importantly, share information widely with others. It is Amanda's belief that a strong technology strategy lies with the entire team, not just with those in IT. Lea Ann shares her new definition of activism which will shift the way you see your world, and open your eyes to the power you have to change it. Lea Ann Mallett is a lifelong activist, writer, photographer and a passionate storyteller. The trajectory of Lea Ann’s story has arced through her work as a direct-action wilderness activist for almost two decades as a non-profit executive director. She has engaged media around the world, from the CBC to the BBC, on issues from ancient forest preservation to the protection of monarch butterflies.

Along with her activism, she creates essays on the beauty of life in the wilds of suburbia in her blog Becoming Undomesticated.

Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Psychology (with a focus on neurophysiology) from Western University, a Bachelor of Education in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Windsor and extensive leadership training.
